Situated about 5 miles south east of Middlesbrough.
Railway type and traffic
The Middlesbrough - Whitby service is usually operated by a class 144 during the week. There are also a few services that terminate at Nunthorpe in the morning/evening peaks, these and the weekend Whitby trains can be operated by anything Arriva have spare - generally 142s, 144s, 156s or occasionally 158s.
During the autumn there are RHTT trains that changes ends at Nunthorpe.
There are also occasional trains to Grosmont (NYMR) especially around the time of the diesel events.

Environment
Nunthorpe is a suburb on the edge of Middlesbrough, surrounded by houses.
Road directions
From the A172 at the junction with the A1043 tuen into Stokesley Road. At the T junction turn right onto Guisborough Road. Follow this road and the station will be on your left.

Parking
There is space for a few cars to park next to the station.
Public transport
The train service to Nunthorpe isn't that good. There is only the Whitby trains (every 3 hours in each direction) and a few extra services in the peaks. There are 2 busses (28, 28A) an hour from Middlesbrough bus station to Nunthorpe.

Photographic notes
Trains going on/coming off the single line section to Battersby will stop on the crossing to either get or give up the token from the signal box.
As there are so few trains on the line, extra services may often run early. The sandite was especially bad this year, often leaving up to 90 minutes early on Saturdays!
