Location notes
New Barnetby is about 2 miles east of Barnetby on the line to Cleethorpes and Immingham.
Railway type and traffic
There is a regular passenger service over the line from Cleethorpes to Scunthorpe and Doncaster and onwards to Sheffield and Manchester, also a more infrequent service to Lincoln. The line is notable by having an intensive freight service from Immingham Docks to many locations throughout Britain. Mostly this is Biomass trains and oil workings.
Environment
New Barnetby level crossing is on a quiet country lane with just a few cottages spread along the road. The crossing is operated manually by a crossing keeper. There is also a footbridge.
Road directions
From the M180, Junction 5:
Take the A18 east towards Grimsby. After about a mile you pass through a small hamlet called Melton Ross. Turn right immediately after towards New Barnetby.

Parking
There is space to park your car in front of the houses before the crossing.
Public transport
The nearest station is Barnetby about 2 miles away. There is a footpath that runs parallel to the railway, though an easier, though longer, walk would be to turn left out of the station drive then turn right and follow the A18 to Melton Ross, turning left to New Barnetby.

Photographic notes
The light is best here in the morning for trains from the west heading towards Immingham and Cleethorpes and in the afternoon for trains heading west. Most westbound trains use the centre track, viewing angles for trains on the Up Goods are more restricted due to trees.
